Pupil Premium and Free School Meals Eligibility

We want to make sure that we are providing your child with the best education and support we can. Families who receive certain benefits may be eligible for free school meals.  Eligibility for free school meals also means that the school will receive extra funding from the Government for your child (called Pupil Premium) which is used to enhance their educational provision.

At Hall Orchard children receiving Pupil Premium funding will receive:

  • Learning interventions,
  • No charge for day visits
  • Subsidised attendance at sports clubs
  • 50% subsidy for residential visits
  • Gifts of books from time to time to encourage reading

We encourage you to apply for free school meals if you are eligible, even if your child is in Foundation Stage, Key stage 1 or does not eat school dinners as the school and your child will benefit.

Your child is eligible for free school meals if you’re in receipt of one of the following benefits:

  • Universal Credit with an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400.
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guarantee element of Pension Credit
  • Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for the four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)
  • Child Tax Credit (with no Working Tax Credit) with an annual income of no more than £16,190

To check if your child is eligible, you can either apply by telephone to the Local Authority on 0116 305 5417 or complete the application form below and return it to school as soon as possible.
