Victoria Bowman – Chair of Governors

Vicky joined as a Foundation Governor in September 2014.  She has lived in Barrow since 2008 and is married with two daughters, who both attended Hall Orchard.  She is a part time Finance and Export Manager at an embedded computing company in Loughborough She is actively involved at Holy Trinity Church, leading Little Angels, Junior Church and Youth Group and is also part of the team who organises the Christmas Tree Festival. Vicky is SEND governor and link governor for RE and Collective Worship.

Amy Earl  (Chair of Finance, Personal, Pay and Premises Comittee)

Amy has lived in Barrow since 2010 and is married with two children, one of whom is currently at Hall Orchard, and one hopefully joining soon. Amy qualified as a chartered accountant in 2001 and has worked in Finance since then.
She joined the Hall Orchard governors in 2015 soon after her daughter started school, and is now chairing the Finance, Personnel, Pay and Premises Committee.

Jen Summerton – Parent Governor

Jen has lived in Barrow since 2013 and is married with three children; two daughters at Hall Orchard and a son due to start in 2020. She has worked in the higher education sector since 2009, currently for the Higher Education Strategic Planners Association (HESPA), representing and supporting those who work in university strategy and planning across the UK. Jen joined as a parent governor in December 2017 because she is keen to support Hall Orchard and the valuable work it does. She has a personal vested interest in the school, but also a wider interest in education strategy.  Above all, Jen wants to help the school ensure that its pupils are safe, happy and confident and that they enjoy learning and achieve their potential.

Neil Titchmarsh – Member Governor

Neil has lived in the village since 2013 and has a young daughter who started at Hall Orchard in September 2020. Neil joined the Governors team in the finance committee in 2017, bringing 10 plus years of project, purchasing and commercial experience in various engineering industries. He is a member of the Finance, Personnel, Pay and Premises Committee working to maintain the financial position of Hall Orchard.

Neil joined the Governors to ensure the progress and performance of the school for the years to come.

Jenny Boldrin – Foundation Governor

Jenny has lived in Barrow since 2008 and has two daughters, one who has progressed through Hall Orchard and one currently there. Jenny joined as a Foundation Governor in December 2020. Jenny is a Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood Studies at the University of Derby and aims to utilise her experience as a member of the Curriculum and Strategy Committee. Jenny is also an active member of Holy Trinity Church, supporting their work with children, families, and the community. 

Kayt Hennessy

Kayt has lived in Barrow since 2013 and has 2 daughters, both at Hall Orchard.  She joined as a Parent Governor in 2021.  Kayt is a teacher at the Children's Hospital School in Leicester, teaching both Primary and Secondary Aged Children.  Her background is in mainstream Primary Education with 16 years as a teacher and leader. She aims to use her experience to support the school, helping the young people to feel safe, happy and reach their full potential. 

Rev Clive Watts

Rev’d Clive became Foundation Governor at the same time as he became Priest in Charge of the Barrow and Wolds Group of Churches in July 2019. He has previously served in the Wigston Benefice and the Borough Hill Benefice and spent many years involved in the life and ministry of Leicester Cathedral. Before ordination Clive spent 25 years as a nurse, working as a specialist practitioner.

As the Parish Priest (Vicar) Rev'd Clive has a particular role in ensuring the distinctive Christian ethos and identity of Hall Orchard as a Church of England School and helps lead the schools Collective Worship and Church Services. He has particular interest in the pastoral care of the students and staff along with the values and ethos of the school and our RE curriculum. Rev’d Clive has other particular areas of interest in worship and liturgy, fostering Lay Vocations and the Church’s ministry to the marginalised in society.

Andy became a governor in June 2023.  He has lived in Barrow Upon Soar since 2011, is married and has two children, one of whom is currently at Hall Orchard and one that will start in 2025.

Andy has a Masters Degree in Systems Engineering and brings with him 20 years of experience in governance, leadership and management from across multiple sectors.  With an interest in the value of data and information, healthy financial performance, learning and development and growing our young people into positive contributors to our local and wider community, he hopes that his skills and knowledge can be applied and transferred into his new role as a school governor.

Sarah Tucker - Governor

My name is Sarah Tucker and I have grown up children and 3 grandchildren who all live in Hampshire. I was born and raised in this area and went to school at Humphrey Perkins and Rawlins. After I got married I moved around the country and I know that getting to know people in the area is really important.

I have worked as a Speech and Language Therapist for 23 years for the NHS and, although I have retired from the NHS, I still want to do things and continue to work 2 days a fortnight. I have a lot of experience in working in schools with children and families with Speech, Language and other communication needs, but not as a governor as yet. I am looking forward to the challenge and hope that I can be a useful member of my local area.

Steve Dunn – Headteacher

I became headteacher of Hall Orchard CE Primary School at the end of August 2022 after 10 happy years as headteacher of Hathern CE Primary. I started my teaching career here at Hall Orchard in 1996 and stayed for 10 years before moving on to become deputy head at Redlands in Sileby.

My aim is to continue to promote good practise in school through a child-focused approach to learning and the delivery of an engaging and innovative curriculum. I believe that staff are the most important resource in the school and therefore encourage strong, effective working partnerships. These, alongside the setting of high expectations, empower children to achieve their best and with our support, they will do just that.
