School Sports Funding 2019-2020

To date we have not had the amout of our Sports Funding confirmed for 2019-20 but we anticipate that it will be simular to 2018-19 when we received £20,400

How will we be allocating this money to ensure sustainability? (2019-2020)

Areas of Focus



Maintain and increase participation rates in competitive sport.

Increased participation & success in competition.

Employment of a cover supervisor to increase provision and competition in school.

Renewed subscription to School Sports Trust.

Renewed subscription to the Charnwood School Sports Partnership.

Participation in Leicestershire Cross Country League.

Cross country completion participation.

Participation in Town Sports event at Loughborough University.

Organise intra- school sporting competitions.

Ongoing participation in Team Charnwood.

Ongoing purchasing of new equipment and resources.

Continue to support Hall Orchard participation in the Loughborough Town Sports competition- run heats to ensure that children have enough practise for the event


Maintain a broad range of inclusive extracurricular clubs available to all children.

Regularly promote all clubs to the children.

Organise clubs based on the ‘pupil voice’.

To maintain existing, and develop new, links with local schools and clubs.

Encourage non-teaching staff to run extracurricular clubs.

Promotion of clubs through the Orchard Oracle, school notice board and new sports leaders


Increased skills of staff teaching PE.

Additional CPD for staff teaching PE on identified areas for development.

Ongoing throughout the year with regular updates

The profile of PE being raised further with the promotion and celebration of clubs and achievements

Sports leaders at lunchtime.

School sports council to provide a pupil voice.

Competition board and achievements on the noticeboard.

Celebration of participation in assembly Parent workshops- importance of physical activity.

Introduction of parent workshops alongside science/DT/PSHE

Attending all inclusive events suited to children on roll at the time.

Hosting competitions/ arranging these at other venues.

Working with other schools to attend and host events that are not linked to Team Charnwood.

Liaising with local schools to minimise travel issues.

Linking PE and Physical Activity with our school values and LORIC- embedding PE into our daily schedule

Increase the profile of physical activity and ensure that both staff and children see the difference between physical activity and physical exercise.

Introduction of lunchtime games through sports leaders and the value of active lessons.

Links with other subjects that contribute to pupils overall achievement and SMSC.


Ongoing links with PSHE, DT,Science & PE: drawing on school, Christian & Olympic values.

Ensure that each year group has a focus on healthy eating and effects on the body through PSHE/DT and science.

Participation for Year 5 in ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ initiative as organised by the FA.

Sporting values given an increased school profile.

PE coordinator working alongside DT/Science/PSHE co-ordinators to ensure that all children are getting coverage



Greater awareness amongst pupils of the dangers that undermine health, including obesity and smoking.

Progressive International Primary Curriculum Units that focus on the body and health.

Year 6 will again take part in the DARE project (Drug Abuse Resistant Education).

Newly introduced PSHE scheme to build on children’s understanding of healthy lifestyles.  

Newly introduced PE Scheme with an emphasis on health and wellbeing in relation to sport.
